Workshop Policies
Registration Cancellation Policy (No-Show Policy)
If you have registered for an MLC workshop, and you are not able to attend, you must cancel in writing (via email: thomash@mlcnet.org or fax 517-394-2096) at least 72 hours prior to the workshop or you will be charged the full workshop price. The only exception will be for registrants who are unable to attend because of inclement weather. See also Inclement Weather Policy below.
Workshop Cancellation Policy (Workshops cancelled by MLC)
MLC will cancel workshops if there are not enough people registered or because of inclement weather. If MLC cancels a workshop, registrants who have paid will be given full refunds.
Inclement Weather Policy
If you have registered for an MLC workshop and traveling may be hazardous the day of the workshop, please call the MLC Offices at 800/530-9019 after 6:00 a.m. the day of the workshop. A recorded message will announce if the workshop for that day has been canceled. Only cancellations will be on the recordings. Assume the workshop will take place if there is no recording indicating cancellation.
Use your own judgment when deciding whether to attend. Those who cannot attend a workshop because of inclement weather will not be charged the workshop no-show fee. Please call MLC, if you cannot attend.
CEUs Issued by MLC
Through an arrangement with the Library of Michigan, MLC is able to offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs) which qualify toward Level 7 Public Library Staff certification under the State Aid Guidelines (i.e., MLC's CEUs are applicable only toward a Level 7 certificate holder's require d 3.2 CEUs after completion of the Beginning Workshop). If you need CEUs for purposes OTHER than Level 7 State Aid certification through the Library of Michigan, you should check with your certifying agency prior to taking an MLC class. MLC cannot guarantee that our CEUs will meet the requirements of any certifying agencies other than the Library of Michigan.
MLC charges a $2.00 processing fee per workshop for registrants requesting CEU certificates.
Participants with Disabilities
If you have a disability that may impact your participation in a particular workshop, please let us know on your registration form and include a statement describing your disability-related needs. Someone from our staff will contact you before the workshop to discuss accommodations. We cannot ensure the availability of appropriate accommodations without prior notification of need.
