How To Register
To register for an MCLS workshop, go to Workshop Registration, select the class title, then select the "Register" button at the bottom of the class description. You will be prompted to enter your username and password to access the MCLS online store. Proceed through the check out process. Within one business day, you will receive email confirmation of the status of your registration.
High Quality Training MCLS offers one of the largest, high-quality library training programs in Michigan and Indiana. Each year, MCLS's training opportunities include up to thirty different workshops and at least four special programs covering the latest technological developments in the profession.
Workshop Locations MCLS offers workshops at the MCLS Training Center in Lansing, Indianapolis, and at various other sites throughout the region. MCLS also offers a variety of online training options. On-site training at individual libraries is available.
Workshop Content Ongoing workshops include numerous topics in cataloging, reference, interlibrary loan, Internet, preservation, and telecommunications. Special Programs Each year, MCLS offers special programs highlighting "hot topics" of interest to librarians. Past programs have included Digital Libraries, Metadata, Remote Access, and Electronic Books.
Customized Training MCLS is pleased to offer custom-designed training to fit the special needs of your library. Specialized training is offered on a custom-quote basis.
MCLS Instructors MCLS workshops are taught by librarians who not only are experts in particular subject areas, but also are daily practitioners of what they teach. Consortium staff who have access to the latest information on products and services also teach on a regular basis.
OCLC Training OCLC has certified the Midwest Collaborative for Library Services (MCLS) as an official OCLC trainer. OCLC Workshops approved by OCLC are listed on OCLC's training web page.
